MUSICAL NOTEBOOK - Beethoven Sonatas
The skill in printing antique sheet music was quite incredible. Engravers hand carved the notes backwards onto copper plates to be inked and printed onto paper and then bound into volumes.
Because of the handmade quality and the effort to produce these volumes I cannot imagine how any can be wasted. I prefer to collect and reuse sheet music others might see as waste to bind musical notebooks. My hand binding techniques are the same traditional skills that craftsmen have used to create books over hundreds of years.
These notebooks celebrate the history and beauty of sheet music in a contemporary style that can be used everyday.
This edition is from Beethoven’s Sonatas probably from the 1900s
Details
• Size approximately A5.
• Hand sewn on a bookbinders frame
• Flat back spine with headband, endband and ribbon bookmark.
• Hand foil blocked title to spine
• The hard covers re use the sheet music plus feature pages through out. Coloured endpapers are front and back. You can see how this works in the images provided. Please look carefully as I try to show signs of aging and related ware if needed.
• Can also be personalised using the little insert to the front of the notebook with room for personal details and a message.
• Hand produced using traditional hand binding techniques and materials. The print is old and will have age related ware such as tanning and possibly some notes in the musical print from the previous owner, which I think adds to the character of the book.
• There are fifty pages (100 sides) of 120gsm Munken Design Pure Rough Cream plain paper. A quality paper perfect for writing and sketching. The paper is smooth with a very slight texture to it.
• Hand stitched with a tough, white linen thread.
• Integral satin ribbon bookmark.
• The spine is flat made from strong kraft paper and grey bookboard reinforced with mull, another traditional binding material, creates the hinge to the book covers. The notebook can be opened flat.
• Once complete notebooks are pressed for a crisp finish.
