A 1950s edition of this well known story, bound in a bold embossed, printed paper, depicting deer and oak leaves. This hand sewn notebook sits prettily on the bookshelf, undetected amongst the other books.
I reuse books that need a little help to regain some of their former glory deconstructing and then hand sewing a few repaired first chapters. These are combined with a soft cream premium plain paper for your thoughts, ideas and sketches. I add new endpapers that are reproductions of period Italian papers, silk ribbon bookmarks and a certificate of authentication, which you can also personalise. This notebook has a newly rounded spine with detailed head and endbands, shown in the images provided.
Images also tell the story of repairs carried out on spine and cover. Honest repairs to the head and tail of the spine consist of a hand tinted bookcloth that is combined with the original spine material giving new strength and flexibility. Part of the cover needed a small area to be repainted. Acrylics have been mixed to match the original print and tickled in with a fine brush. The cover when dry has been rewaxed for protection and durability.
